How Old Was De Niro In Goodfellas

So, you're wondering, "How old was De Niro in Goodfellas?" Well, buckle up, because we're about to dive into a world of mobsters, movies, and... math. Yes, you heard it right, folks. We're gonna do some numbers, but don't worry, I promise it'll be more fun than your high school algebra class.

Let's set the scene

Imagine it's 1990. The Berlin Wall is coming down, the first-ever text message is sent (it was "Merry Christmas"), and Robert De Niro is starring in Martin Scorsese's epic gangster film, Goodfellas. Now, you might be thinking, "Wasn't De Niro, like, a hundred years old by then?" Well, let's find out.

First things first, when was Goodfellas released? It hit theaters on September 19, 1990. Now, let's rewind to the start of filming. Goodfellas began shooting on March 14, 1990. So, we've got our start and end dates. Let's dive into the main course: De Niro's age.

Introducing... Robert De Niro

Born on August 17, 1943, in New York City, De Niro was already a Hollywood heavyweight by the time Goodfellas rolled around. He'd won an Oscar for The Godfather Part II (1974) and was nominated again for Taxi Driver (1976). But how old was he in 1990?

Let's do the math. If Goodfellas started filming in March 1990, and De Niro was born in August 1943, how many years old was he when filming began?

De Niro was 46 years old when Goodfellas started filming. But wait, you say. "What about when the movie was released? How old was he then?" Great question!

Goodfellas was released on September 19, 1990. So, how old was De Niro on that fateful day?

On September 19, 1990, Robert De Niro was 47 years and 1 month old. Boom! Math done. Now, let's talk about the real question on your mind: "Was he too old to play a young gangster?"

Too old? Never!

Now, you might think, "47? Isn't that a bit long in the tooth for a young gangster?" But remember, De Niro was playing Jimmy Conway, a seasoned criminal, not some fresh-faced kid. Plus, let's not forget, De Niro has always been a master of transformation. He's played everyone from a boxer to a mob boss to the freakin' Pope!

And besides, age is just a number, right? I mean, look at you. You're reading this, aren't you? You're clearly not as old as you thought you were. (Kidding! Sort of.)

But seriously, folks, De Niro's age in Goodfellas is just another fascinating piece of the puzzle that is this incredible film. So, the next time you're watching Jimmy Conway strut his stuff, remember: that's a 47-year-old man under all that charm and swagger.

And there you have it! The age of Robert De Niro in Goodfellas, served up with a side of humor and a dash of math. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some Berlin Wall to knock down.
