John P Franklin Funeral Home Chattanooga Tennessee

John P Franklin Funeral Home Chattanooga Tennessee

So, I was walking my dog, Biscuit, the other day, and we happened to pass by this place that's been around forever. I mean, Biscuit's been walking that route with me for years, but I'd never really noticed it before. It was the John P. Franklin Funeral Home, sitting there all dignified and quiet on its little hill in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Now, I know what you're thinking, "Why on earth would you be noticing a funeral home, Molly?" Well, let me tell you, it's not every day you see a place that's been serving a community for over a century. I mean, that's like, older than my great-great-grandma!

Anyway, I got curious. I mean, really curious. So, I did what any curious person would do these days - I Googled it. And boy, did I find some interesting stuff.

Back in the Day

Turns out, the John P. Franklin Funeral Home has been around since 1889. That's right, 1889! Can you even imagine what Chattanooga was like back then? I mean, I can barely imagine what it was like last week, with all the new restaurants and whatnot popping up.

Back then, the funeral home was started by John P. Franklin himself, a man who was apparently as respected as he was well-dressed (at least, according to the old black and white photos I found). He started out small, but word got around about his kindness and professionalism, and before long, he was the go-to guy for funerals in Chattanooga.

Through the Years

The funeral home has seen a lot of changes over the years. It's changed hands a few times, but it's always stayed in the family. I mean, can you imagine running a business with your family for over a hundred years? I can barely plan a family dinner without some drama!

They've also seen a lot of changes in the community. Chattanooga has grown and changed a lot since 1889, and the funeral home has been there through it all. They've seen the city boom and bust, they've seen wars come and go, and they've seen families grow and change. Through it all, they've been a constant presence, offering comfort and support to the community.

Modern Times

Now, you might be thinking, "Okay, Molly, that's all well and good, but what's the point of all this history?" Well, here's the thing - the John P. Franklin Funeral Home is still going strong. It's still there, on its little hill, serving the community just like it has for over a century.

They've got all the modern amenities now, of course. They've got a website (which, let's be real, is a lot nicer than mine), and they're active on social media. They've even got a blog, where they write about all sorts of things - grief, funeral planning, the history of funerals, you name it. It's actually really interesting stuff, if you're into that kind of thing (and even if you're not, it's worth a read).

But even with all the modern stuff, they've still got that old-fashioned sense of community and kindness. I mean, they've been around for over a century, they must be doing something right!

So, What's the Moral of the Story?

I guess the moral of the story is that sometimes, it's worth taking a second look at the places we pass by every day. You never know what kind of history they've got hiding behind their doors. And who knows, maybe you'll find a place like the John P. Franklin Funeral Home - a place that's been there through it all, offering comfort and support to the community, one family at a time.

Anyway, that's enough serious stuff for one day. I'm off to walk Biscuit again. Maybe we'll find another hidden gem in our neighborhood. Until next time, folks!
