2020: The Year of the Pandemic and the Dodgers' World Series Win

Let's kick things off with the most recent victory, shall we? In 2020, the Dodgers faced off against the Tampa Bay Rays in a nail-biting seven-game series. Now, I know what you're thinking, "But 2020 was the year of the pandemic, how did they even play?" Well, baseball fans, the show must go on, and on it did, with strict safety measures in place, of course. The Dodgers emerged victorious, with a final score of 4-2, making it their seventh World Series win.

Fun Fact: The 2020 World Series was the first to be played entirely at a neutral site, Arlington's Globe Life Field in Texas.

2017: The Comeback Kids

Let's rewind to 2017, shall we? The Dodgers faced off against the Houston Astros in a thrilling seven-game series. Now, this one was a real nail-biter. The Dodgers found themselves down 3-2 in the series, but they weren't ready to throw in the towel just yet. They fought back, tying the series at 3-3, and then, in a dramatic Game 7, they emerged victorious with a final score of 5-1. It was their sixth World Series win, and a testament to their never-give-up attitude.

Did You Know? The 2017 World Series was the first to feature two teams that had both lost in the World Series the previous year.

1988: Kirk Gibson's Walk-Off Home Run

Now, let's take a trip back in time to 1988. The Dodgers were up against the Oakland Athletics in a thrilling Game 1 of the World Series. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Dodgers down by one run, Kirk Gibson hobbled up to the plate. Gibson, who was nursing a severe injury, had not even taken batting practice that day. But, as they say, "It ain't over till it's over," and Gibson proved that with a dramatic walk-off home run, winning the game 5-4. The Dodgers went on to win the series 4-1, securing their fifth World Series win.

Trivia Time: Kirk Gibson's home run is often considered one of the greatest moments in baseball history.

1981: The Dodgers' First Win in LA

Let's rewind again, this time to 1981. The Dodgers faced off against the New York Yankees in a six-game series. This was the Dodgers' first World Series win since moving to Los Angeles in 1958. The series was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading wins. But in the end, it was the Dodgers who emerged victorious, winning the series 4-2. It was their fourth World Series win, and a sweet victory for the city of Los Angeles.

Little Known Fact: The 1981 World Series was the first to be played in November due to a players' strike that delayed the start of the season.

So, How Many Times Have the Dodgers Won the World Series Since 2000?

Alright, let's do a quick recap. Since the year 2000, the Dodgers have won the World Series three times. Once in 2020, once in 2017, and once in 1988. That's three shiny Commissioner's Trophies, three parades down Figueroa Street, and three unforgettable moments in Dodger history.

But Wait, There's More!

Now, you might be thinking, "That's all well and good, but what about the rest of the time? What were the Dodgers up to between 2000 and 2017?" Well, my friends, the Dodgers were busy building a powerhouse team, one that would go on to win multiple World Series. They made it to the World Series a total of eight times since 2000, with their most recent appearance being in 2020. Reflection: More Than Just a Game

You know, as I sit here writing this, I can't help but think about how much baseball, and the Dodgers specifically, mean to so many people. They're more than just a team, more than just a game. They're a source of pride, of joy, of community. They're a reason to come together, to celebrate, to mourn, to hope. And that, my friends, is something truly special.
