First Things First: The Movie's Release

Before we get into Gwen's age, let's set the scene. 'The Amazing Spider-Man' hit our screens in 2012. That's right around the time when smartphones started becoming a thing, and we were all trying to figure out how to use those fancy new emojis.

Now, you might be thinking, "Why does the movie's release matter?" Well, it helps us understand the context. You see, the story is set in present-day (or at least, present-day 2012), which gives us a clue about Gwen's age.

Gwen Stacy: A High School Senior

In the movie, Gwen is introduced as a high school senior. She's smart, she's beautiful, and she's got a bright future ahead of her. Now, high school seniors are typically around 17 or 18 years old, right?

So, if we're going by the movie's timeline, Gwen Stacy was likely around 17 or 18 when she first met Peter Parker, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

But Wait, There's More!

You might be wondering, "What about her age in the comics?" Well, that's a bit trickier. You see, comics often don't stick to a strict timeline. Characters can age, but sometimes they don't. It's like that magical world where we can all have cake for breakfast and never gain a pound!

In the comics, Gwen was introduced as a high school student in the 1960s. But remember, comics don't always follow a linear timeline. So, while she was a teenager when she first appeared, her age can vary depending on the story.
